The best high schools in America are the choice of prospective students to get their dream school with the best curriculum. With 18,841 high schools across America, the process of getting into high school and figuring out which one is the best fit can be as daunting as applying to college.
To make life easier for families, school ranking website Niche has released its list of the best public high schools in America for 2020. The list was determined after ranking thousands of schools in more than 10,000 districts across the country. The rankings were based on academic factors like AP test scores and enrollment, racial and economic diversity, and reviews from students, alumni, and parents. Statistics are taken from the U.S. Department of Education.
The No. 1 public high school in the country is Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology in Alexandria, Virginia. Last year’s Niche rankings gave the No. 1 spot to Illinois Math and Science Academy, in Aurora, Illinois, which has now dropped to No. 2.
